The Centre for Law, Justice and Policy or “CLJP” is by all definitions, a one-of-its-kind initiative to have been launched in Karachi under the esteemed name of the Denning Law School. The areas of legal research and policy construction possess no singular centre for critical assessment and development in the broader legal landscape of the city. This astounding vacuum is being sought to be filled by the earnest and devoted efforts of the CLJP team at Denning.
With the establishment of the CLJP as the first, and only, forum for the furtherance and understanding of the Law, changes in the overall landscape pertaining to the attitude towards it in Pakistan are foreseeable and much necessitated.
The primary aim of this platform is to provide a space for qualified fellows and others interested in Legal Research to have access to scholarly publications as well as become part of the process. The CLJP further involves itself in the undertaking of research on contemporary issues pertaining to human rights and the rule of law, while including those of domestic significance and not limiting itself to those of an international character; the clinic also focuses on the provision of policy analysis and ascertainable solutions.
CLJP prides itself as a forum that aims to foster and boost the broadening of the scope of legal research and writing in Pakistan as a whole. The forum believes in engaging in discourse and knowledge-exchange with associated partner organizations for the furtherance of advocacy and the strengthening of the rule of law, all while adhering to the foundational principles of the CLJP; the growth of Law in the country.
